I'm Pi

I’m named in honor of Lori Ann Piestewa. She was a member of the US Army’s 507th Maintenance Company. Pi, as she was known by her comrades, was traveling in a convoy through the desert and ran into an ambush in Nasiriyah on March 23, 2003. She was taken as a POW and died soon after her injuries. Pi was from Tuba City, NM and was the first Native American female to die in the Iraqi War. She was awarded the Purple Heart and Prisoner of War medal, posthumously.

I'm Bretagne

Pronounced “Brit-nee” I’m named in honor of Bretagne a search and rescue Golden Retriever who searched for survivors at Ground Zero after the September 11 attacks. It was the first assignment for her and her owner and trainer, Denise Corliss. They also were deployed to assist with Hurricanes Katrina and Ivan. At age 9, she retired and acted as a reading therapy dog until her death at age 16!.

I’m September, but you can call me “ember”. I am named in honor of all the fallen First Responders from September 11th. We can never thank the First Responders enough for their brave response on that day and I will never be able to put my paw in their footsteps. However, in an effort to honor these First Responders my role is to represent the fallen with great honor that we truly never forget the brave, the sacrifice, and the commitment displayed then and today.

I'm Judge

I’m named in honor of my father Mychal Fallon Judge. He was an American Franciscan friar and Catholic priest who served as a chaplain to the New York City Fire Department. While serving in that capacity he was killed, becoming the first certified fatality of the September 11, 2001 attacks.

I’m named in honor of Jessica Cheney, a Virginia state trooper who was killed in the line of duty on January 17, 1998. I will honor her and do my best to make her proud and serve the First Responder and Veteran community. Roll Tide!

I'm Joey D

I am named in honor of FDNY firefighter Joey DiBernardo. On Jan. 23, 2005, “Black Sunday,” Joey and others were trapped by fire on the fifth floor of an apartment building. Joey’s partner offered to lower him to safety, but Joey replied, “I’m single and you have a wife and kids . . . I’ll lower you.” He was injured that day and succumbed to the injuries 6 years later. I'm Hattie

The word Hattie means Empress of the House or Ruler; much like our First Responders and Veterans who protect us. I am trained to help provide comfort to our First Responders and Veterans to spread the mission of Thin Line Service Dogs. I also serve on the Central Shenandoah Emergency Medical Services TEAM (CSEMS).

The word Moose signifies strength, pride, and life. Much like our First Responders and Veterans who embody these characteristics. I am proud to represent our First Responders and Veterans and spread our mission.

I am named in honor of all our First Responder who are Chiefs. May they provide the guidance and leadership needed to protect their communities and the First Responders they manage. I’m an ambassador dog, but from time to time, I get put into service for our First Responders.

Moira, one of Ember's (September) puppies, was named after Moira Smith, a New York Police Department officer killed on Sept. 11, 2001. She was the first officer to report the attacks.
